{tab=Air Duct Cleaning}

Air Duct Cleaning

Image: Atlanta Air Duct Cleaning | Fire & Water Damage Repair Experts - XSI, Atlanta GAMost people are now aware that indoor air pollution is an issue of growing concern and increased visibility. Air duct cleaning provides a cleaner living and working environment for the occupants of any residential or commercial space. It dramatically reduces dust and other airborne debris and decreases symptoms of asthma, allergies and other respiratory health issues. A clean heating and cooling system also greatly enhances efficiency thereby increasing equipment life.

XSI provides a professional service that both increases efficiency and reduces running time, offering a cleaner and safer environment. Cleaning and disinfecting the ducting generally refers to the cleaning of various heating and cooling system components of forced air systems, including the supply and return air ducts and registers, grilles and diffusers. We deep clean the source of the air supply including (where applicable) the blower, squirrel cage, coils, condensation pan and return air supply. The air ducts are then brush vacuumed clean with a rotary brush. This brush removes the allergy and disease causing contaminants that continuously circulate throughout the duct system and the home. We will sanitize your ducts and vents with an environmentally safe sanitizer commonly used in hospitals and nursing homes. This reduces the risk of contaminant growth and leaves behind a fresh scent.

High Pressure and Steam

To get your home or commercial building really clean, look to high-pressure cleaning with or without steam. Regular pressure washing can keep everything looking like new. It’s the safest, most efficient way to get rid of:

  • Dirt
  • Mold
  • Mildew
  • Bacteria
  • Grease
  • Black spots in tile grouting
  • Cobwebs
  • Contaminated water left behind after a flood

What surfaces benefit most from pressure washing

Your home has many areas you can’t get really clean by simply sweeping, blowing or hosing. High-pressure cleaning can reveal like-new surfaces in areas you use all the time, such as:

  • Driveways
  • Walkways
  • Brickwork
  • Stonework
  • Stucco
  • Wood decks
  • Play structures
  • Windows
  • Gutters
  • Trash cans

In your commercial building, pressure washing can help you in all of the above as well as:

  • Dumpsters
  • Oil spills

In addition, pressure washing and team washing are an excellent way to prep surfaces for painting.

What we mean by high-pressure and steam washing

We use clean water sprayed at a force of 3,000 psi. For extra cleaning power, we use water as hot as 250 degrees Fahrenheit. For safety to people and the environment, we don’t use bleach or other harsh chemicals, which can be caustic when inhaled or kill plant life.

Make sure your cleaning company is licensed, bonded and experienced in the latest eco-friend washing techniques. Choose a company that is here to stay from year to year, one that stands behind its work – a company like XSI Disaster Services, which is locally owned and operated.

{tab=Odor Control}

Odor Control

Image: Atlanta Odor control | Fire & Water Damage Repair Experts - XSI, Atlanta GAOdors in the home or workplace can be a big issue; especially to any guests you may have visiting. In many cases, it can be solved by just cleaning the carpets or finding the source of the odor and getting rid of it. Most of the time, removing the item that caused the odor isn’t enough.

There are many ways to remove or cover up the odor. A cover up method that is used frequently in a home would be an aerosol spray, one you can purchase from any grocery store. These types of odor “eliminators” do not eliminate any odors. It just simply masks the odor for a brief period of time, but the odor is still there. Extra strength granules can also be used, but again, it’s only a temporary solution. Encapsulants and masking agents are not as effective as an odor counteractant or an ozone generator.

What is an Ozone Generator?

Ozone operates according the principle of oxidation. When the static loaded ozone molecule (O3) contacts with something “oxidation able”, the charge of the ozone molecule will directly flow over. This is because ozone is very instable and likes to turn back in its original form (O2). Ozone can oxidize with all kinds of materials, but also odor and microorganisms like viruses, moulds and bacteria’s. The extra oxygen atom releases from the ozone molecule and binds with the other material. Eventually remains only the pure and stable oxygen molecule.

Ozone is one of the strongest oxidation agents technical available for use to oxidize solutes. The extra-added oxygen atom will bind (=oxidation) in a split second to every component that comes into contact with ozone.

We use Ozone Generators to eliminate smoke odors in fire damaged structures, crime scene clean-ups, mold, mildew, bacteria, viruses, pet and cooking odors. Ozone machines can also be used in vehicles to eliminate smoke or other odors that reside in the vehicle.

Odor counteractants and cleaning agents are highly effective as well. Normally these products are used for restoration purposes. They are used mostly on non-porous materials. For example: In a fire loss, all non-porous, smoke damaged contents can be cleaned by using this method. All affected contents are dipped, soaked or wiped off with the odor counteractant and then rinsed off with water. Then each item is wiped off and dried.

Sanitary Service

Methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) is a deadly form of staph that is resistant to most antibiotics. It used to be found only in hospitals and nursing homes.

Now it’s common in public places, such as health clubs, gyms and school locker rooms, where it infects healthy people in the prime of life. In the past decade, several young athletes have died from staph infections they picked up in their school locker rooms.

Staph is just one of many bacteria and viruses that inhabit surfaces in public places. A partial list includes:

  • MRSA
  • Rhinoviruses, cause of the common cold
  • Funguses that cause athlete’s foot
  • Human papillomavirus (HPV)
  • Ringworm

Most of these germs are not life threatening, but they can make people sick with a range of ailments from skin conditions to colds and the flu. If you own or manage a facility where they infect your members or customers, you are responsible.

Places germs like best

Germs proliferate in warm, moist areas and other places people frequent on a regular basis:

  • Gyms and health clubs
  • School gyms and locker rooms
  • Public bathrooms
  • Office common areas
  • Malls and shopping centers
  • Nail salons
  • Restaurants

Other places they proliferate include:

  • Doctors’ offices
  • Health clinics
  • Nursing homes
  • Assisted-living centers

How to be sure your facility is really clean

A professional sanitary services company like XSI Disaster Services has the equipment, products and expertise to remove dirt, germs and other contaminates and then disinfect.

Crime Scene & Trauma Cleaning

Image: Atlanta Crime Scene & Trauma cleanup | Fire & Water Damage Repair Experts - XSI, Atlanta GA

If you have suffered a terrible loss or trauma, please accept our sympathy and our promise to be considerate of your feelings as we do our job. Our goal is to make your surroundings clean and safe again so you can focus on getting your life back together.

When a homicide, suicide, violent attack or break-in occurs, police, fire fighters and crime scene investigators perform critical tasks at the scene. However, they don’t usually clean up anything. That task is left to you – the family or business owner – at a time when you are least able to handle it.

In cases of death, human injury or industrial accidents, improper cleanup can pose serious danger to present and future inhabitants as well as those performing the cleanup. To protect yourself, your loved ones and your employees, never try to perform such a cleanup on your own.

The importance of immediate, professional cleaning

Death and human injury normally leave behind hazardous biological materials called biohazards. Such substances require immediate, expert attention to prevent dangerous contamination.

At the scene of a death, biohazards are everywhere, often invisible to an untrained eye. A single drop of blood, for example, can spread infectious diseases such as AIDS, HIV, Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease, E-coli and more.

If too much time elapses after death or injury or improper cleaning techniques are followed, biological fluids can seep into carpets, subflooring and other parts of the house, potentially contaminating the entire house for months or years to come. In addition, the scene itself can be dangerous because of air-borne pathogens, bacterial and mold spores.

Proper cleanup requires hospital-grade disinfectants to neutralize biohazards and odors, and cleaning technicians must follow strict EPA and OSHA-approved handling and disposal methods.

Even if a crime scene involves no death, cleanup crews must properly deal with remnants of fingerprint dust and chemicals such as tear gas that can produce long-lasting, negative effects on a home or an office.

At XSI Disaster Services, we have teams of technicians trained to follow the strictest safety cleaning procedures to return scenes of crime and trauma back to normal as quickly as possible.
